Flavio Favelli

was born in Florence in 1967 and lives and works in Savigno (Bologna).

After earning a degree in Oriental History at the Università di Bologna, Favelli participated in the Link Project (1995-2001).

He has shown in public and private spaces in Italy and abroad. His personal projects have been carried out at numerous sites: MACRO – Museo d'Arte Contemporanea Roma, MAXXI Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo, American Academy, Fondazione Volume! and Galleria Sales in Rome; Museo del Novecento, Museo della Permanente and Galleria Cardi Black Box in Milan; MAMbo - Museo d'Arte Moderna di Bologna; Centro Arti Visive Pescheria, Pesaro; Museo Marino Marini, Florence; Galleria Francesco Pantaleone and A Project Space in Palermo; Museo di Villa Croce, Genova; Centro per l'Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci, Prato; Palazzo delle Papesse, Siena; Fondazione Sandretto Re Rabaudengo and Galleria Maze in Turin; la maison rouge, Paris; Projectspace 176 and the IIC in London; IIC in Los Angeles.

He participated in the XIII Biennale di Scultura in Carrara, XV Quadriennale di Roma at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, and in the exhibition Italics at Palazzo Grassi, Venice, and the MCA in Chicago.

He designed and created two installations of working bars: one at the MAMbo in Bologna, the other at MARCA in Catanzaro. He also created two public and permanent rooms: Vestibolo in the ANAS of Palazzotto Foscari Headquarters in Venice and Sala a'Attesa at the Pantheon in Bologna inside the Cimitero Moanumentala of Certosa that welcomes the celebration of laity funerals. In 2009 the artist was chosen for Acrobazie#5, a project by Unicredit at the Centro Fatebenefratelli of San Colombano in Lambro (Milan). In 2010 he had a residency at the American Academy in Rome for the Italian Fellowship.

He has given seminars and conferences at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, Politecnico in Turin, Libera Università in Bolzano and the Università di Bologna.

His works are in private and public collections such as the GAM Galleria d'Arte Moderna and the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin; MAMbo, Bologna Fiere and Fondazione Furla in Bologna; the maison rouge in Paris; Collezione La Gaia, Cuneo; Civiche Raccolte d'Arte and Fiera Milano, Milan; MACRO and Nomas Foundation, Rome; Museo Arte Contemporanea Villa Croce in Genova; Anita Zabludowicz Collection in London; Elgiz Collection in Istanbul and the Unicredit Banca Collection.

In 2008 MAXXI in Rome acquired one of his large installations entitled La Terza Camera.
